Founded in 2018, motorcycle maker DAB has had a meteoric rise in Europe. The company delivered its first made-to-order motorcycle in 2019 and showcased its first electric prototype in 2021. That prototype is now going into production as the DAB 1a, built in Peugeot Motorcycles’ Beaulieu-Mandeure factory. Peugeot bought DAB in 2023, with the launch of the 1a a key effort of the two companies. The 1a uses a double-cradle steel frame with a trellis subframe and aluminum swingarm. The bodywork is made from ABS with an Alcantara seat. The center-mounted electric motor makes a peak of 35 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque, with a repairable, replaceable, and recyclable battery pack good for 93 miles of range. Paioli provides the inverted fork and rear damper, with Brembo calipers, a Peugeot-sourced ABS system, and regenerative braking standard. The DAB 1a is limited to 400 units worldwide.
