Awesome Real-Life Cars You Can Buy in Lego Form

The Land Rover Defender is back on American shores for 2020, and we’re excited. We’re also excited that it can be built with Lego bricks – 2573 of the Technic ones to be precise. The Lego Defender is just like the real thing, with a moving inline-6 engine, a working winch, and steering system. It also has a 4-speed transmission and functioning all-wheel drive with three working differentials.

The coolest thing about the Lego Speed Champions 1974 911 Turbo 3.0 has to be the iconic whale tail spoiler that takes up the entirety of the rear of the car – not that we’re complaining. It’s extremely cool that the folks at Lego are doing more retro sets like this classic Porsche and we hope they do more just like it.

You cannot build the Lego 1989 Batmobile in two hours – we tried and failed spectacularly. With that being said the Batmobile, that was driven by Michael Keaton in the Tim Burton directed movie, has an incredible amount of detail in Lego form. Based on the 500F, which was made from 1965 to 973, the Lego model has a replica two-cylinder engine, decorative luggage rack, and a working convertible top. Ferrari has stopped offering the F40 supercar in the larger, pricier Lego Creator form, but you can still buy a Lego F40 from the Speed Champions line. This smaller Ferrari actually closely resembles the real thing (many Speed Champions cars look somewhat cartoonish and misshapen due to their tiny scale) and comes with a few spare parts.

The Speed Champions Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC is one of the few rally-inspired kits Lego offers (the other has approximations of the original Mini Cooper rally car, as well as the brand’s current Countryman), and it does a pretty good job of capturing the hatchback’s aggressive look. McLaren’s 720S comes in Lego Speed Champions guise with a Lego person who can double as either the car’s designer or a racer with a helmet. For when the minifigure, as Lego calls it, is in designer mode, it can be placed at a little designer’s desk. For reference, the real 720S supercar does not come with a person or a desk.
