Apple Mac Pro 2020
Apple’s last Mac Pro was powerful and impressive at launch… but turned out to be nearly impossible to expand or upgrade, much to the chagrin of those who needed it most. Its absurdly powerful sequel will have no such problem. Its stainless steel frame with integrated handles and optional wheels was built specifically to allow for modularity and upgradability. An aluminum housing slides over the frame, hiding eight internal PCIe slots, an Intel Xeon processor with up to 28 cores, up to 300 watts of power, and a massive heat sink, a 1.4 kW power supply, and up to 1.5TB of RAM. Its graphics cards are held inside an MPX module that has a secondary slot for added power and Thunderbolt support, and the optional Afterburner video card is capable of processing 6 billion pixels per second, enabling playback of multiple 8K videos at once. While the starting price isn’t all that notable, those looking to get the best specs available can expect to fork over well over $50,000, or the price of a home in some areas.
