Almost Half of 2021 Cadillac Escalades Have Sold for over $100K

    If it’s surprising that people pay a lot for the Cadillac Escalade luxury SUV, it shouldn’t be. The Escalade received a significant redesign for the 2021 model year, which included 38 inches of screens, an independent rear suspension, and fuel-saving cylinder deactivation. The new luxury full-size SUV starts at $77,490, a $1000 increase over the previous model, with the the longer ESV starting at $80,490. However, GM confirmed to Car and Driver that nearly half of the 2021 Escalades have had transaction prices over $100,000.

    “[The] all-new Cadillac Escalade retook market leadership in its segment in Q4,” GM stated in its 2020 fourth-quarter sales report. It sold 9454 Escalades in that time, including 2020 models. GM also said the Escalade’s fourth-quarter retail deliveries were up 19 percent.

    There are multiple 2021 Escalade trim levels that start over $100,000, and even the lower trims can crest the six-figure mark with options. As for its competitors, the Lincoln Navigator and long-wheelbase Navigator L, the fully loaded Black Label models are the only versions that can cost more than $100,000. Jeep says its upcoming Grand Wagoneer will cost over $100,000 fully loaded.

    Super Cruise, GM’s driver-assistance technology that now offers lane change on demand, is an option available on the 2021 Escalade. There are also two engine choices: a 6.2-liter V-8 is standard, or there’s a Duramax turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six available as a no-cost option. The new Escalade shares a platform with the Chevy and GMC full-size SUVs, featuring an independent rear suspension that yields more interior space, especially in the third row.
