Alan Mann, owner of Alan Mann racing, played a pivotal part in the success of the Ford GT40. His team developed two lightweight GT40 prototypes, called the AM-GT 1 and AM-GT 2, and while neither won a race, work on the two cars was folded into the main GT40 program and led to a Le Mans win in 1966. Ford’s latest Heritage Edition for the GT pays homage to Mann with Mann’s Alan Mann Racing’s distinctive red-and-gold livery and number 16 plates. Gold accents are featured on the dash, door panels, and seat braces, along with copious amounts of exposed carbon fiber.
