Ford’s tribute to the GT40, the GT, spanned 4,038 units over its production run between 2004 and 2006. Values for those cars have skyrocketed, with the model earning a well-loved reputation over the years. But even more rare are four targa-topped GTs, dubbed the GTX1, that were ordered by a Middle East businessman and appeared at the 2005 SEMA show. One of those cars has returned to the US and is now up for auction. A fully factory-authorized build, the GTX1 was modified by Genaddi Design Group to an open-top specification. A Valencia Yellow and Titanium stripe finish with custom badging, carbon fiber side skirts, rear diffuser, and carbon fiber rear clamshell sits over a black leather interior with Sparco embroidered seats. The 5.4-liter supercharged V8 makes 700 horsepower, 150 more than the “stock” GT, and features a low-restriction Borla exhaust. The car shows just 129.5 miles on the odometer. Auction estimates put the value of this one-of-four GTX1 at over $1 million.
