Ferrari’s America series of V12-powered grand touring cars were reserved for the most well-heeled clients of the Prancing Horse. One of Ferrari’s best clients was Count Giovanni Volpi di Misurata, a Venetian noble and founder of Scuderia Serenissima, a successful privateer racing team. Count Volpi order this 1961 400 Superamerica Series I Aerodinamico, one of the first cars to wear Pininfarina’s Aerodinamico bodywork. Volpi specified the one-off Nero Tropicale over Tobacco Connolly leather that car wears today. The four-liter V12 makes 320 horsepower, and thanks to a four-speed gearbox with electric overdrive, can top 150 MPH. Count Volpi owned the car for just a year, selling it on in 1962, and has had a handful of owners since. The car has the coveted Ferrari Classiche certification and copious amounts of documentation, verifying its status as one of the most exclusive classic Ferraris made.
