The 328 helped lay the groundwork for what BMW would become famous for after World War II — some of the most well-tuned driving machines on the planet. Six 328 roadsters would stand above the regular production versions made from 1936 to 1940, clad in aluminum Superleggera bodywork designed for serious racing. Powered by a two-liter inline-six, these cars would leave a mark on autosport before the outbreak of the war shut down production. This 328 was separated from its chassis in the 1950s before being reunited and restored to original specification in the 1990s. A landmark model that would go on to influence BMW’s philosophy into the modern era, the car is currently being offered for sale.
