Foxconn and Wistron Among Firms Selected for India’s $1 Billion Manufacturing Incentive Plan [Report]

Apple assemblers Foxconn and Wistron are among the companies selected for India’s $1 billion incentive plan to produce and boost exports of laptops, tablets, and computers, reports Reuters.

Yesterday, India named Dell, Wistron’s ICT, Flex, and Foxconn’s Rising Stars as its choice of global companies. Ten Indian companies were chosen including Lava and Dixon.

Manufacturers will get 1%-4% cash back on additional sales of locally made goods for four years. The base year is 2019-2020.

The government expects these companies to produce $21.59 billion worth of hardware and create more than 36,000 jobs over the next four years. The plan could help Apple assemble of its of iPads in the country.
