New MacBook Air to Feature Mini-LED Display, Faster Processor, All-New Design [Report]

Apple is working on a new MacBook Air with a mini-LED display and a flatter design, according to new report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo via MacRumors.

Kuo said the new MacBook Air will feature an “all-new design” with a similar form factor as the next MacBook Pro models, which are also expected to feature a mini-LED display and flatter top and bottom edges. Previous rumors have suggested the new MacBook Air will also feature a faster Apple silicon chip and a MagSafe-branded magnetic power cable.

It’s also rumored that the new MacBook Air will come in new colors similar to the M1 iMac.

Kuo isn’t sure if the M1 MacBook Air will be discontinued when the new model is launched. If it is, Apple would likely price the mini-LED MacBook Air at the same $999 starting price. If it’s not, then Apple could drop the price of the M1 MacBook Air or introduce the new model at a higher price.

BOE will reportedly supply mini-LED displays for the new MacBook Air; whereas, LG and Sharp are supplying mini-LED displays for the new MacBook Pro models.
