1962 Ferrari 330 LM / 250 GTO

Enough has been written about the Ferrari 250 GTO. Any time one of the 36 cars comes up for sale or auction, it’s a massive event, as the car continues to set records for price. But even among the few 250 GTOs, the one coming up for auction in New York this November is special: it’s the only factory-owned Series I GTO raced by the Scuderia Ferrari in 1962. The car placed 2nd overall at the 1962 Nurburgring 1000km and was driven by Mike Parkes and Lorenzo Bandini as a works entry at the 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car has spent the last 38 years in the hands of the same owner and is promised to be in better-than-new condition. Thoroughly documented, the car is sure to set another record for the type when it crosses the block in November.
