Land Rover Project Hero

Built by Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations unit in collaboration with the Austrian Red Cross, the Land Rover Project Hero is designed to be a vital emergency response vehicle. It’s based on the 3.0L TD6 of the new Discovery and has a roof-mounted drone to help provide live footage to teams on the ground. Using a world-first self-centring and magnetic retention system, it allows the drone to land safely back aboard even when the vehicle is in motion. Appropriately, the truck is outfitted with many communication systems, auxiliary LED lighting, power supply points that can support different plugs from different regions, and a heavy-duty sliding rear floor that can be deployed as an additional work surface. It will be shared between the Austrian Red Cross training centers in Erzberg and Vienna for the next six months.
